How do plants and people help each other?
What do plants need to grow and thrive? How do the seasons affect planting?
Various labs are set up showing how plants grow – showcased in ppt. Newsletter stating what we use plants for, web site showcasing plants of our area
"PLANTING ACTIVITY" · Conduct an experiment about planting. · Divide the class into 3 groups. · Each group will bring soil, seed and water and three pots. · After presenting the materials needed for the experiment, the teacher will give the instruction for the experiment. · Prepare the pot with the seed and soil inside it. · The teacher will provide some guide questions for the class to answer while observing. · Group 1 would take care and observe the first plant that will be placed in the classroom, while the group 2 will take care and observe the second plant that will be placed outside the classroom, the group 3 will not take care of the third plant but should observe the third plant that will be placed outside the classroom. · The first and second plant has a proper care while the third plant will have no proper care. · The teacher will discuss the guide questions being given to the class.

1. What is the purpose of an assessment?
Assessment plays a critical role for education. The purpose of assessment is to know the students strength and weaknesses. Assessment is generally used to refer to all activities teachers use to help students learn and to gauge student progress. We need to assess in order for us to know how to improve teaching and improve the learning of the students.
2. What methods are appropriate to meet the purpose? There are lot methods of assessment, the commonly used for now is: a. Baseline Assessments - Oral and written responses based on individual experience and to assess prior knowledge. b. Oral Reports – assessment method that requires communication by the student that demonstrates scientific understanding. c. Checklists – method that will monitor and record anecdotal information of the students learning. d. Portfolios – methods that will assist students in the process of developing and reflecting on a purposeful collection of student-generated data. e. Paper and Pencil Tests – in this assessment method includes by making test which could be multiple choice, short answer, essay, constructed response, written reports, in order for us to assess student acquisition of knowledge and concepts
3. What instrument is most effective? The most effective assessment instrument is the RUBRICS, since the rubric will guide the teachers in scoring student outputs and provide consistency of scoring student performance. The rubric can also be used not just by the teachers but also by student each time there having peer or self evaluation providing for them to have a basis for their self reflection and an understanding of the skills gained through the task.
4. When do use the methods and instruments?
METHODS: Baseline assessment - This is used before the topic is being discussed in class, so that the teacher would know what the students' prior knowledge in the topic. Oral reports - This is used during the discussion, teachers would give reports for the students and give them the responsibility of discussing the topic for the class so that they would at least understand a certain topic in class. Checklists - This is used after the topics are being discussed and it is already time for the teacher to check on the students' learning. As a teacher, you should always have a checklist to monitor the student's learning and be able to detect if they are not doing well in their subjects. Portfolios - This is being made after the a series of activities are already finished and all the outputs are being placed there. Paper and pencil tests - This is used after discussing the topic and after doing the activities connected to the topic, so that the teachers would know if the goals for the topic being discussed is achieved or not. INSTRUMENT: Rubrics - This is used during the oral reports and activities are being done, so that we would know which of the things are to be improved and which are the good points for the outputs being made by the students.

It helps us estimate a child's strengths and weaknesses compared to her overall ability. Not only that, it is the basis if they would pass the subject or not because at the end we would these results would be computed and it would become the grades of our students.
